The Penny Experiment: A Call For Couponers

Basically, I am on a bargain hunt for the best deals possible using my coupons to buy as much non-perishable food as I can with only $25. That food will then be donated to a local food bank.

I've started my shopping for The Penny Experiment. I'm just getting a few items at a time as I come across good deals. So far, I've spent $10.25 of the $25 limit. Here's what I've bought...

Glen's Market:
(3) Boxes of Cheerios sale price $1.50 each = $4.50

Used coupon $1/1 = .50 cents for 1 box
Used coupon $1/2 = $2 for 2 boxes or $1 each
Total = $2.50 for 3 boxes

(2) Cans of Campbell's Tomato Soup sale price .69 cents each = $1.38

Used coupon .50/2 = .88 cents for 2 cans
Total = .44 cents each or .88 cents for 2 cans

Walgreens:
(2) Nabisco Ritz Crackers sale price .99 cents each = $1.98

Used coupon $2/2
Total = 2 FREE boxes

(9) Hunt's Tomato Sauce sale price .39 cents each = $3.51
Used (3) coupons for $1/3 = $3 off
Total = .51 cents for 9 cans or .06 cents each

Wal-Mart:
(2) No Yolk Noodles at $1.76 each = $3.52
Used (2) coupons for .75/1 = $1.50 off
Total = $2.02 for 2 bags or $1.01 each


(4) Martha White Corn Bread Mix at .58 cents each = $2.32
Used coupon $1/4
Total = $1.32 for 4 packages or .33 cents each


(2) Morton Season All at $1.36 each = $2.72
Used (2) coupons for .60/1 = $1.20 off
Total = $1.52 for 2 or .76 cents each


(2) Knorr Rice Side Dishes sale price $1 each = $2
Used coupon .50/2
Total = $1.50 for 2 packages or .75 cents each


(1) Amy's Vegetable Soup at $2.12
Used coupon for 1 FREE Amy's Soup item
Total = FREE
